Tell about your worst fuck up at work.
I was at a nursing home installing magnetic door holders which let the doors shut during a fire alarm. These were floor mount holders, so before drilling, I looked in the crawl space and there was nothing anywhere down below that area. Drilled the big hole for the wires, and I had to drill 4 smaller holes to mount this thing to the floor. When I drilled the third hole, a big puff of dust shot out the hole when I broke through the first layer. So I pulled the drill out and the bit was literally melted off on the end. Here there were wires INSIDE the concrete floor. I'm lucky I didn't get shocked! It took out 3 circuit breakers. The electrician showed up to put 3 new runs in. He turned the breakers back on and they never retripped so he left it go. The boss man wasn't too happy about it though.

I once bumped a valve coming off a pump in my oil battery which went to a small tank outside of the treater building. Oil from the main production tank ran through the pump out the valve, filled the little tank and then on to the ground.... about 7 m3 (42 bbl) of oil. Not a good day. But it could have been alot worse.

One time I made some crazy purple fumes from mixing random chemicals in the lab, but I was doing it under the hood and quickly evacuated the air.
Otherwise, I'd say my worst fuck up was going to some Pirates message board (no, it was not a porn site) which put a virus on my work computer and caused a day and a half's worth of down time in the lab. My computer ran one of the main machines in the lab, and our computer department didn't fix it fast enough. Indirectly because of that screwup, my boss did not catch incorrectly labeled material which went out to several customers...not good.

Good topic.
We were remodeling the bathrooms in the back of housatonic lumber's kitchen showroom. I screwed a piece of sheetrock across a wall with a doorway in it. I started cutting the door opening out with a sawzall, kicking up all kinds of dust.
What I didn't realize is that , smoke detectors don't actually get set off by smoke. They pick up on the amount of dust particles in the air.
I'm in the middle of cutting this door out, the smoke alarm starts giong off, wich happens to be directly connected to the town's fire department because of the volume of wood on the property.
Before i know what happened, there's 3 ladder trucks out front and guys running in with full gear on looking for a fire.
:fart: . Boss wasn't happy. He was acting like that should be common knowledge though. Any of you guy's know that's how a smoke detector works?

We got called out one time to a nursing home because their fire system went off. What set it off was a vacuum cleaner with a bag that blew up and sent dust everywhere.

Some guy almost hit me with a tractor trailer right after I told him not to start or move it. I flipped the fuck out and he called the ethics line on me. I have had 6 meetings with HR so far and I still don't think it's over.

The dude told on you because you yelled at him? How old is he,10? If that's not POA, i don't know what is.
Reminds me of the jerky boys, where the guy calls the lawyer saying he was hurt at work. Lawyer asks how were you injured, and he says they hurt his feelings.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IsDeY3puRE
Tell your boss your neck is starting to hurt from being hit. Ask for the insurance info on the truck
