Did you know that the Japan earthquake actually moved the entire earth off it's axis by 10 inches, which shortened our days by a fraction of a second. Thats pretty massive. I watched all the Japan earth quake stuff on Discovery yesterday. Unbelievable forces.

Can you imagine the quakes that caused mountains to shoot up? MAkes me, as a human feel very, very un important, and in the grand scheme of things we probaly are.

The Indonesian earthquake the spawned the Tsunami a few years ago did the same thing, changing the shape of the earth making it more oval than round. I also heard that the island of Japan moved several feet to the east as a result of the earthquake. Very cool stuff but like Robert said makes you feel very very insignificant.
