my grandmother was very catholic, she did not eat meat on Fridays the entire year. It was changed to only during lent was to keep with the changing times

You're supposed to turn in the palm you got the year prior. They burn them down and then use the ashes on Ash Wednesday.

My mom used to work at a church and we learned quite a bit from that. I never got to go to bible classes and that. I kinda cheated the system and got the crash course.
