Verizon Wireless Samsung 4G MIFI mobile hotspot
#1
So I got the new 4G MIFI last night. Used it today, was AMAZING in Pittsburgh, where there is 4G coverage. Was still really good in Cleveland, where there is 4G coverage. Did not work AT ALL outside the 4G coverage, or worked worse than a weak 1993 dial up connection. I already turned it off and switched back to my 3G MIFI from before.

DO NOT GET THIS DEVICE, unless you plan on never leaving the 4G network, but if that is the case, you really don't need it anyway right?

two thumbs down.

I would have thought, once you leave 4G coverage it would work off of 3G.

I'm pretty sure I'll just keep using PDAnet on my phone if I need anything.
(easytether is new and cheaper I think)

The mobile hotspot with my AT&T Atrix (which you have to root the phone to have access to) works in any 3G/4G area. If it's in an Edge area it will not activate. Wireless tethering is a FAR better option...the hotspot will drain your battery really fast.

IT works in the 3G areas, just not as well as the old one. I will wait until a newer better version comes out.

Can't you plug the phone in via usb and charge it at the same time?

Verizon also doesn't allow voice and data at the same time.
So if he's planning on using his phone, he'll need the seperate device.

Let's find the most complicated way possible to get around buying a MIFI.

Once he has the generator, why not hook up a dish to the roof of his car, then he could probably get internet and TV through that.
