I pick midweek, because it would wind up being cheaper in the end. I haven't spoken with my "future hubby" yet  . He isn't a huge fan of traveling and I know that I won't be going unless he is tagging along. T, I am with you on the hotel prices... I usually stay at hotels that run $35 to $47 a night yet aren't rat infested.... The big part will be keeping the price tag in an affordable range. Price is going to be a big deal for us. I'll know come February where we stand on that.
Just because someone can call me Mom now doesn't mean I am gonna be Betty Freakin Cocker and bake any pies.

Where the hell do you find hotels that cheap that are not shitholes. I have a hard time finding anything around here under $75 that's not a shithole.

yeah that is crazy cheap. 60 bucks a night for a terrible hotel here. 120 for middle of the road, and 180 for deluxe shit

I was just thinking about it, and it seems like those of you serious about going are looking more at the mid week stuff, eventhough the vote is up 1 on weekend now. I wonder where all the comments are on those. I need to know what you all area thinking here, so we can make an informed decision. I am also thinking, fuck the Yankees game and maybe I will come from Tuesday the 8th to Sunday the 13th instead. That way I will hit TOMB's dates and anyone who doesn't want that, we can overlap a day or two with them.
Again, I NEED MORE INFO FROM ALL OF YOU!!!!

Seriously, I can set you all up with hotels for under $100 in Jersey, most likely.
T, there is no such thing as a $120 hotel in NYC. Even in Brooklyn, most are over that. The one I stay at in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn often is still $140 to $150.
Remember, New York is one of the most expensive cities in the world. There are ways of saving money on food and ground transportation, but hotels are going to be WELL over 50% of your total cost.
There is some websites people at my work use. Let me see what I can get out of those.

Email notification thing still isn't working correctly for me, so I just stopped in again to check replies.
I like all the sight suggestions that Pete gave including a tour of Union, ha. Some of the guys on the other forum wanted to see WTC, Broadway, Statue of Liberty, so those are falling in line.
The date and the lodging seems to be the sticking point. New York hotels are on a whole other level when compared to pretty much anywhere else in the US. According to Josh, even hostels will run you $50 a night.
I don't know if you can reserve blocks of rooms at mediokes hotels outside of Manhattan for cheaper, but if you can, I think that's a route to pursue if you'd like to look into it. I have a feeling that everyone is going to end up doing their own thing though. Some people want to stay at baller places, and others want to do it cheap. I think a middle of the road option like LeNeve's suggestion of a hotel you can get for around $100-$130 a night. Of course, if you play your cards right, you might be able to get that at a baller place through Priceline, but prices have increased since I last tried that.
The dates to me are all up to whoever wants to come. I know June 8-10 should work. On the other forum, there are 17 people that said they can come on those dates. I'm sure people can come on Friday or a weekend as well if they just want to do the show thing and hang out for a night. Whether that be the week before or the end of that week, that's up to you guys as well.
I am all for expanding this out for more dates which include June 8-10; we just need to figure out what dates work. I think we should deadline this by Friday and just go with whatever works best for the most people. If people want to come, good; if not, well, they'll just have to wait until next time.

Are we all going to try and stay in the same hotel?? If so, get a price... I'll have my panic attack at home and then I will man up and pay for it.

Hey, I have gotten a hotel room in Traverse City for $47 a night... It was a Motel 6, so it was acceptable. I understand that area is going to run a lot more than around here.

I just did a quick search on group rates for hotels. I have no idea how much of this is true and correct, but here's what I found:
If I put in for a 15 room block for June 8 through June 11, the prices for an economy or moderate level hotel (we're talking like Super 8's and Days Inns) are between $90 and $130. I'm sure there are taxes and fees included on that, and the ones near $90 are either in Hoboken or some other close suburb of New York. I don't know if there was any actual discount given for these places, so I'm not sure if you can do better on Priceline or not. My guess is that you can, but I don't think you can reserve blocks of rooms that way, and the hotels will be random as far as which one you get.
