I was hoping for December, but with the job at the sweatshop I won't be able to do it. I think Spring would be better for me too.

It's looking like January, probably late in the month.

You don't wanna do that. Might as well just take a taxi or a train from where you're staying. Parking and traffic is outrageous in Manhattan.

Hello folks, first time poster here!

I don't know if you were aware, but last week I had an idea to try to have a "Dudebro Convention" of some sort next year. I discussed the idea with some people last week and posted something about it to the general C&R forum yesterday. I asked Pete if the guys from this forum might be interested, and he said that you had already discussed something like what I was suggesting. Since that's the case, I figured, why not try to have people from both forums meet together? So, I wanted to come over and touch base.

I see that you are thinking about something in the coming month; I don't know if I would be able to do that or get everyone here on relatively short notice. I did want to get things planned well in advance to give people plenty of time to ask for days off or work or book travel. I haven't made any concrete plans yet, but my thinking was to try to do something in the late spring or early summer since the weather is nicer and there might be more things to do such as going to a baseball game or something. I also hear that hotel rates are cheaper at that time of year. If we had enough people, maybe I could see about renting out a conference room at a hotel and having some sort of dinner. Obviously I would hope that the whole C&R crew would be able to come and spend time with everyone.

I want to make this a HUGE event to show the guys that there are tons of hard-core fans that really enjoy the show. I also want to send a message to Sirius/XM that C&R are a very important part of their family and that they deserve to get more credit than they do because of their great listenership.

I'd really like to coordinate with anyone who is interested! The first and biggest question is: Are any of you interested in doing this? Please let me know. I can read replies here, or if you'd like, get in touch with me on the C&R forum.

Hope to talk to you dudebros soon! :-)

With this new information, we should change the dates, especially since our original dates are getting close and we still have not really organized anything.

I think April, May or June would be best, after tax time, so set aside some tax money for the trip. Mets in town might be a necessity. So let's start figuring out a weekend in May or June, figure out if you can go and let's post it here.

I will redo the poll so that we can start with getting the month locked down.

I also think that we should stick with our original plan of Friday to Sunday for the trip.

I want to include the originally planned DBN studio visit on Friday as well.

Speak up here. Ideas, concerns, how drunk will you need to be to tolerate JIW and Dildo, etc.....

There will have to be a lot of Cap't Morgan available for me to be able to tolerate either JIW or Dildo........ I will not be responsible for any injuries they may acquire either.....

I'm down for a trip to NYC. I'm only a couple hours away so it's not a big deal for me. Hopefully I'll have a lot more free time in the Late Spring\ Early Summer to make a trip. Something I definitely want to do is the studio visit on a Friday.

How many people would they allow in the studio at one time?

They had about 30 people in there for t he Guac off one year when I was there. I would say 8 to 10 max. I doubt we would have more than that from DBN anyway. Friday would be a DBN only studio trip.

Well, it's good that there is interest here! Some things to think about:

Friday to Sunday makes the most sense for people so they don't have to take time off. The only sucky thing is that Covino takes his trips to LA on the weekends, so he might have to skip out on any of the activities unless Layla happened to be in the NY area. We'd have to coordinate with Covino, Rich, and Spot to see if they'd actually be willing to have a get-together on one of those days. I think they would for a major meeting of listeners, but since they're the "main attraction," they will have to be catered to.

I am really hoping that everyone can meet up with the C&R crew one way or another...I mean, some people would be traveling a long distance for this. If they are coming to meet people who listen to C&R, don't you think they should actually see C&R? Pete is right; you can only get 8-10 people in there. Currently 27 people on the C&R forum have voted that they would consider coming to a "Dudebro Convention." Adding 10-20 people from this forum is a lot of people! If it comes down to wanting to see the crew while in the studio, that is a major problem. I think some people from the C&R forum should also have the opportunity to see the studio if they want, don't you? Maybe there could be multiple groups visiting for an hour each? That'd be the most fair thing to do.

If there could somehow be a "live remote" from a meeting place that would be best, but that's a major pipe dream of mine. I have a feeling the boss approval/funding/logistics of that would be asking too much.

As for meeting locale - Some of the people who live out west from the C&R forum seem to want a western meet-up, but I honestly think for this first attempt at a meeting we should stick to NYC. I'm assuming more people live out East, so I think majority will probably rule on any sort of meeting place. I might have to put the swoe down on that, haha. Big Grin

We're still in the planning stages, so nothing is set in stone. I'll continue to read this thread and comment on any questions/concerns anyone has.

Perhaps they could do that Friday show in the lobby, in that thing they call the "fish bowl" where they faced off with Jay Thomas.. I've never seen the whole setup.. but I would bet a lot more people could fit in that area.

The only month that would be possible for me to go is April, possibly the beginning or middle of the month of May. After that is my son's birthday, family get togethers and then we are getting closer to July and my due date.

I like the idea of April... I have to deal with a guy who has his daughter every other weekend and that will be a challenge. He doesn't get along well with her mom, so switching weekends around tend to bring on drama. Plus, I am on a tighter budget nowadays, so we'll see how generous tax time is for me.
