Friday, February 12, 2016 ~ Fish Fry
#1
Even is you aren't Catholic, it's that time of year for those all you can eat fish fries.

I don't like fish, so I'm going to have a salad for lunch.
Just because someone can call me Mom now doesn't mean I am gonna be Betty Freakin Cocker and bake any pies.

Another school shooting. I think my kid will need to wear a bullet-proof vest to school when she starts going.

About 3-4 years ago a high school student was writing bomb threats in the bathrooms at the high school here. (She eventually was caught) Both schools in town went overboard on security measures that are still in place. My kids school after 9am all doors are locked except for the front doors. You have to be signed in by the office and get a guest badge. If you don't wear it, you get escorted out.
If I want to be in a classroom to volunteer, go on a field trip or even just drop something off at the classroom itself, you have to go through child abuse, criminal record checks. No parents are allowed to go to a classroom to pick up your kid. They call the class, the kid comes down and you take them from the office.
The kids aren't allowed out of the class unless they have a pass and they can't leave more than twice (something like that) in a 3 hour period.
There are security cameras at every entrance and all central points of the hallways. The high school still does random locker checks every week.

The Oscar Swag Bag contains:
- 10-day, first-class trip to Israel, which comes in at $55,000.
- Year’s worth of unlimited Audi car rentals from Silvercar, something that usually costs $45,000
- 15-day walking tour of Japan ($45,000).
- Lifetime supply of Lizora skin creams ($31,200)
- Haze Dual V3 Vaporizer ($249.99)
- The laser skin-tightening procedure Ultherapy ($5,530)
- 3 private training sessions with ‘celebrity wellness expert’ Jay Cardiello ($1,400)
- Fit Club TV ‘Ultimate Fitness Package’ that’s held in a private villa ($6,250).
- $1,900’s worth of ‘vampire’ breast lift, which uses ‘blood derived growth factors’ to enhance breasts without the need for implants.
- The female participants also receive a $200 Arouser sex toy

I'd be cool with the tour of Japan and the vaporizer. They can keep the rest.

I don't think the schools around here have hit that level of security.  My niece's school has a buzzer at the door, but it was still easy to walk in there.

They have practice lockdowns, fire drills, gas leak.

I'm sure that happens here too.  I'll have to ask.
