Good morning.

I'm thinking there has to be more to life than an average job, making average money and doing average things. I want more.

I am below average living in the NY tristate area

all I want is a little more to get out of my attic 500 square foot apartment. Hopefully buy a house one day/ or even a townhouse

I pretty much have given up on everything & accepted the life I have now is it. I am happy & have a great relationship. what I have to do to even consider a nice engagement ring/nice vacation/ or a future wedding scares the living shit out of me, i have no clue what I am going to do

I'm pretty sure the only thing that's going to satisfy me is if I work for myself. I've tried this in the past, but I always wind up partnered with someone else that doesn't believe in hard work.

One half of our business is just Jim and I, the other we have a partner. Eric is a hard worker. I've seen him get up at 3 am to go out, start making stone for customer pick up at 6am.... he has no sense of money management, every penny he earns he spends on frivolous shit... which is why his business when by himself was going belly up.

Money can't buy happiness... even if you have it... You either have no one to spend free time with because you alienated them all trying to become rich or you work so much you never spend it. Story of my life...

I disagree. The key is to not let others know you have as much as you do. I have several friends who do this. I know, but I don't care, most people think they have the average Joe's money. They are able to do whatever they want and buy mostly what they want. You might be right about the work part, but if you are able to manage a 60ish hour work week or less and have your fun, then money does buy happiness. If I got paid double what I get paid now, I would be in that boat and have all those things I said I wanted.

I just want to be able to afford some of those things on my wish list.. Like an RV, jetski.. maybe a boat.. cabin up North.....

don't want to scare you at all but I'm in the middle of planning a wedding. Let me tell you, weddings are the biggest racket out there. If you want more money, do anything that has to do with a wedding. They can charge anything and people will pay it.

Michigan is just crap for jobs still, but I keep finding these temporary positions that have the possibility of becoming long-term. This position pays great, but is to cover some chick going on maternity leave. The plus is that there's a chance she might decide to not come back to work. But, since I am knocked up, I'll take almost anything I can get. If this one falls through, I think I may scrap the job hunt (not entirely) and focus on getting some schooling.
