Before I had a family, I would drink a couple beers alone at home, then feel weird about it. Then I would go to friends houses until I found someone that wanted to hang. If I do that now I always find the friend that ends up talking me into going to the bars in towns 100 miles away. Then I'll disapear for a few days partying. I've learned that employers, wives, and my Mom don't like that very much.

Worst thing that happens to me is we go to the bar, and I get stuck there until they close. Then to a coney island, and I don't get home until after 3, almost 4 sometimes.
