Stem cell research is as of yet a pipe dream as far as results. So far every "break through" has been followed up with a "well we were wrong but got so excited about what we found that we decided to forgo protocol and announced incomplete results." And they've found nothing that indicates that adult stem cells are in any way inferior to embryonic stem cells.

The way I understand it, making diabetic mice is hard but making hypoglycemic mice is nearly impossible.
