I talked to the insurance company and they were saying I might be at fault because the snowbank may have done more damage. So apparently it would have been better for me to Smash her passenger door than it would have been to try and avoid the accident and cause damage that way. Makes no sense to me.

That makes no sense. They should credit you for trying to avoid a more major collision.

But, they're an insurance company, and insurance companies are blood thirsty demons.
If there's any way possible to spin it to justify charging you more, they will.

That is true. This one I am working for is more generous with their pay outs. There is one client who was forgiven for a similar to T's incident and it wasn't held against her.

Manitoba only allows a government operated company to insure vehicles within Manitoba. They assign you a collision team, they end up being like lawyers and detectives. They figure out what happened based on witnesses, the vehicles and pictures.
The lady that hit me phoned in the accident and took full responsibility for the accident so I won't have to pay a thing. I know a new car is nice but right now we're overwhelmed with shit and I don't want to have the car buying fights with Jim.
