I work in Mechanicsburg which is 2 and a half to 3 hours away from Philadelphia. I'd like to work in Philadelphia, but I'm stuck in my house and it's too far to drive so I stay working in Mechanicsburg.
My employer decides to sign a client in Philadelphia and tells me I have to drive there like one a week.
Be happy you have a job... I hate being unemployed and wish I had a job more than anything!
Getting a job is easy. Finding a job that has the title you want it to have is difficult. Remember you have to start at the bottom to make your way to the top.
I know but it seems getting a foot in the door is harder and harder these days. I can't find one that will pay what I need to make right now

That was such a struggle. Before I got laid off I was making pretty good money. For single guy with his own house I was surviving. I didn't have nice shit, but I got by. When I got laid off I was taking interviews for jobs that were about half my salary. I didn't really know what I was going to do once I got them, but my monthly unemployment checks were what I was making in a week at the last place.
The thing is, do you take some shitty job stocking shelves when you have 10+ years experience in a skilled trade or do you old out? I looked at it this way, if I took the shitty job I wouldn't be as available for interviews and I also thought it would look bad if I went from a system administrator\engineer job to a stock boy.
I guess you could say I was lucky to find something over 2 hours away making almost 20k less a year. That worked for 8 months until something local popped up.
I just finished updating my resume because I'm in talks with another company for a new job.
Yep- this is what I struggle with big time. I'd rather get a crappy job for the interim but it really limits my ability to do the interviews. My unemployment doesn't cover crap. Having medical coverage for my kids is also a huge thing for me. That is in a lot of ways more important that the salary aspect of a job.
