Maybe they just make it easier to setup a sattelite in Kansas because they feel bad for us

well they set it up for free, so that jackass can climb on my roof. and it doesn't seem like they will cut any deals, i tried earlier and it got me nowhere. I never had a dish, do they have to run all new wires to the receivers or can they use the existing cable in the house?

they should use the existing wiring in your house. I had Bell Satellite and they run cables from your dish to where your cabling meets (usually by the electrical panel) then it goes from there. I've got Telus Optik, which is IPTV and it's awesome.

If you have a costco membership you can sign up through their website, get the same deal, and get a $120 costco gift card. Also, if you use a referral, you get $10 a month off, and so would I if you use my account #

Pete Nice Wrote:I have heard nothing but bad things about Dish. I have pirated Direct TV for a while and it was decent, but no matter what people tell you, weather truly does effect it. And more than you think.

I only had weather-related issues during super heavy storms and that sticky wet snow (which is preventable if you put veggie oil on the dish to keep it from sticking. But that was it.

DaveP Wrote:Is it true that with DirecTV that if you move, you have to pay the early termination fee and sign up again at your new address?

When I moved in with Jim, I called them to cancel my service and they just offered to move me to the new address. He already had Comcast, so I didn't do it. I'm pretty sure it's free.

Yeah, when I had DirectTV from 99 to 2004, me and a friend installed it ourselves, never had an issue with it being off.

I've had DirecTV for 3 years and have only run into rain messing with our signal a handfull of times each year. I don;t mind because I usually watch something on the DVR when that happens.

The final straw was a few years ago when a horse was going for the triple at Belmont, 2008ish. As soon as the gate opened, a slight rain started. Reception went out. IT came back on 5 minutes after the race was over.

That was at my friends house in Houston.

Fuck satellite. I would never pay for it.
