As bad as I hate it the only way we even stand a chance to get out of this mess involve drastic cuts in spending coupled with higher taxes to raise revenue. (among many other things). The problem we face is that none of these politicians has the guts to call for what is necessary...because the mess is so big and the solutions so painful that speaking the truth makes anyone who dares to do it unelectable.

They don't need to raise our taxes though, the little guy, they just need to tighten the tax code so that bankers and CEO's are not getting away with legally paying no taxes, same with big money corporations. If your company is making a ton of profit, it should be paying some tax. I know that is part of the base premise of these Occupy assclowns, they just have no idea how to go about it and are doing it all wrong.

:whomo:

there is an awesome daily show clip about how raising the marginal tax rate on just the top few percent (back to what it had been previously) would give the country 700billion over the next decade: http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-a ... de-is-over

700 billion over 10 years isn't anywhere close to solving it.

Check this out.

Here's the thing...the top 10% of wage earners are paying 70% of all taxes. 50% of the wage earners pay NO taxes at all. How is this fair? So we soak the "rich" some more....it's not going to change anything. The truly rich are going to find ways to get around it and even if you close off those loopholes they'll just pick up and leave. 60% tax on 0 is still 0. You might get away with some slight increases of 5% or less in the MTR but going beyond that is courting disaster. The entire taxation structure in this country is ridiculous and needs torn down and rebuilt from scratch.
Look at these figures:

I agree with you, I don't want to raise taxes on the rich, just close a few loopholes, mostly on corporations. I don't think there really would be that much of an egress.
I was a Little League superstar, don't hate.
