Property Taxes
#1
What are the property taxes where you guys live?

I'm not sure if I live in a good area or if New Jersey just sucks bad for property taxes, but this is what I've noticed...

My house is a pretty normal one. I taxes are somewhere around $2700 to $3000 a year. The houses back in Jersey that I'm looking at are like 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 baths with small yards and the taxes are like $7600 a year.

My condo's taxes are about $2300. 2 to 3 thousand is about the normal range for decent homes in decent areas around here.

where I am in NY its $12,000-$16,000 a year. the million dollar homes pay over 20K a year!

We are looking to buy in Connecticut where they range from $4,000-$8,000 Or further north in NY $6,000-$10,000

We pay about $3,000. And that's in a town that's 1 square mile in size.

My water bill is runs $100 a month, too.
Just because someone can call me Mom now doesn't mean I am gonna be Betty Freakin Cocker and bake any pies.

The property taxes where I used to live were $900-$1,000.. Of course, that was a rural area full of farms and fields.

Our house in town was $1600 a year.
Our shop is town is about $2000 but it's a 2 acre lot zoned commercial.

The older house that sits on the pit property is about $1800/year and is 80 acres.
The new house is $2200/year. It's only 3 acres but we also got the 77 acres of farm land so it will bring it up to $2500-2800/year.
Our concrete plant has 4 pieces of property adding up to 2 acres and it's $3400, zoned commerical.

The only water/sewer bill we pay now is at our town shop and it's roughly $100 every 3 months.

That's where I am getting pissed off. I pay in one month what you and my parents pay in 3. There's no way we go through so much water.

This is why I live in an attic apartment, any where else in the country I can own a 4 bedroom home.

We just got pre-approved so we are looking 30 minutes to 1 hour away from where we live now to buy.
