Corolla making strange noises
#16
An update on this. I know it has been a while. With my travel schedule, I don't drive it that much so it doesn't really bother me too bad.

The warbling noise is gone. I didn't do anything to fix it so it is gone. now in its place is a rubbing noise. Doesn't start until I'm going about 30 MPH where it sounds like a slow rub and then when I hit 50 it is pretty continuous. It isn't a wheel well issue. I've checked those.

I just hope it isn't something that takes the entire car down when whatever it is goes ahead and breaks.

I know it isn't the universal belt. Had that replaced 10K miles ago. Just weird. Taken it to three different places and none of them can figure out what it is. They all are willing to throw parts at it but they really don't know.

Crawl under the front of it and look at the rubber boots that cover the CV joints. If they are torn or have holes that is the problem

Hmmm. Sadly, I'm not sure that I'd recognize a CV joint or their rubber boots. One major flaw in being raised only by a mother is that I'm lacking on some of the self-help shit.

Check out the picture halfway down of a torn CV joint boot. You are looking at the axles that come out of the transaxle and connect to the front wheels. Look at the picture in this link and go check. If they're torn or damaged you'll know immediately.
