Its a Samsung DLP TV. Model # hlr5667wax/xaa

It started to get white and pink horizontal lines all over the screen yesterday. It doesn't do it on HD channels, but it does do it on standard 480 channels as well as on the DVD player, the Wii and anything else that's plugged in except an HD Video player.

If someone tells me what to replace I'm sure I can do it.

This sucks! It's only been like 2 weeks since we spent $1200 on a water heater.

Sorry to hear Joe

My friends had a DLP, and they got one little white spot in one of the pixels, and due to the mirroring system it uses, they replaced the TV cause the repair was so expensive.

this was 2 1/2 years ago, so it maybe cheaper to fix, but DLP isn't really used anymore and parts may be a bitch to get

If you have problems with the mirror system you're screwed. I'd certainly replace the TV if that was the issue. From what I'm reading the problem is a chip in one of the boards. I'm just looking for information on which board it is. It seems to be common so I figured if someone works in this field they'd know what this problem is. If I can fix it for like $300 then I'm not going to replace the TV.

I love the picture on this thing. The tv is like 3 years old and the HD quality is awesome.

Looks to me like a bad digital board. Apparently that whole series of Samsung TV's has issues with this board. Hard to say for sure but this is likely your problem:

There's a huge thread on this issue here:

I was checking that thread out last night. I planned on looking for that lose chip tonight. Hopefully I can come across someone before I buy the board that says it is exactly what I need before I spend the money.

Here's what bothers me about this issue..

I did a ton of reading on this issue and found a few hundred posts abotu this issue. When I googled the part number that Sears gave me for this circuit board I found people selling services to just repair this issue that I'm having. They say it's contributed to a soldering issue. Their problems started after just over 3 years just as mine did. All of these people contacted Samsung and were told they had no record of this issue. Since these posts started like 2 years ago and were as recent as this past week I figured Samsung had to have something on this issue so I called. I was met with the same story of no record of this issue. We talked to supervisors and supervisors of supervisors.

I wound up filing a complaint with the Attorney General's Office of New Jersey where they are based because some people with this issue got it resolved this way.

Apparently this part only costs $250, but it's the principal of this being a known issue and the company denying it.

Hell Yeah! That reminds me. When you get to Toyota let me know what's up with that. I certainly can't be the only person that has ever complained about that.

My plasma had a horizonal white line that pissed me off. It was under warranty luckily. I had it fixed a few weeks ago. They put a new screen and all new circuit boards in. Seems like it would be cheaper just to give me a new TV. The only thing that is original is the plastic and the stand.

Spill water on it or knock it over and put it on your homeowners insurance. My buddy spilled a beer on his laptop and his renters insurance covered it.
