I agree with just about every statement here. Also, it brings up a great point about the military. In nearly every movie you see about Zombie invasions, the military is inept and falls within seconds of the invasion. These are all trained, accurate, level headed killers with the best possible weapons every created. Even IF they fell, why wouldn't there be mountains of dead piled around the bases for the thousands of zombies they actually did get to kill? That in itself would create a nearly impenetrable barrier. Zombies don't climb well and when you're firing 50 caliber shells at soft slow moving targets, even if you aren't hitting them in the head, how much can be left? Well trained snipers on a base could keep zombies away for months, killing them hours before they'd be able to stagger within range of smaller guns. Recon units could travel in gunships and rain terror on the streets killing things within miles and having even a larger perimeter. Tanks? Armored Humvees? Predators? Just seems implausible that it would happen to way so many movies make it out to be.
