The term "chigger" is often confused with the term "jigger"
yup, very often. not a day goes by where I don't over hear someone getting chiggers and jiggers confused. stupid idiots.

They are most numerous in early summer when grass, weeds and other vegetation are heaviest. In their larval stage, they attach to various animals, including humans, they burrow deep into the rectum and cause anal bleeding
