Oh yeah, LeNeve, for that alternator and gasket w/ labor, it cost me $825.

$387 for the alternator. I found it online for $150. I asked him to try to find one cheaper, and was very nice about it too. He comes back and says the aftermarket ones are more expensive. I hate being lied to. I hate dealer markup on parts. They also charged me $30 for that gasket I could have gotten for $14.

I didn't have time to fuck around though, very busy these days, so I had to pay it. Put it on the Amex and will have to pay it off over the next few months.

our parts guy does that shit, but if i'm there, I call him out on it, and tell the customer where to get it cheaper. because, I like getting good people deals, and they will usually hook me up down the road, with whatever perk it is they can get. It also makes us look stupid, unless its some 80 year old guy, i'm sure they did the research before coming in, and know what the prices should be.

I still owe $8000 on my 2009 Sonata. I can't wait to have it paid off fall 2015.

I hope to get another 3 to 4 years or more out of it after that.

I bought my Dakota in 98, then had it paid off for a few years before I got my Sebring in 06.
Now I've had that paid off for a few years.
I loved not having a payment.

I want nothing more than to not have a car payment. We have two right now and both will be paid off Fall of 2015. My wife's car should last another 10 years minimum after that, she never really goes out of a 5 mile radius of the house. If I could get 5 more years out of mine, that would be huge. Not having two car payments will do wonders for our financial woes we have right now also with daycare and reduced hours and stuff.

If I had bought the parts on my own and brought them in to them, would they still fix it?

My garage guy is great, I wish I had been able to take it to him. Probably would have saved me at least $250. He always gets me genuine parts for even less than I can find on the internet.

Unless I go through a lot of slush, me car never really looks dirty unless you really look at it. White seems to always have that brown stain on it.

I am done work at 2PM. I think I will go to Advanced and get a new air filter. I noticed it needs changed when I got my oil changed a few weeks ago. I can get a new filter at Advanced for like $14 and put it in in like 10 seconds, but it would cost like $50 at any shop.
