Corolla making strange noises
#7
Took the car in late last week for an oil change and general Winter inspection. I had them try to find the source of the noise. They came back with two things. They say that the front driver's side wheel bearing needs replaced. OK, that doesn't sound like it is a big deal. The second thing is they said that the right transmission arm has a coupling (not the word he used but I can't remember the exact word) and it looks like it is "throwing grease." He said he didn't know if it could be replaced or if the entire transmission arm would have to be replaced.

The thing is that I'm not certain if either of these things can cause that kind of noise. I think the bearing could under the right circumstances.
