Abita Amber Ale - Pokes28 - 10-20-2010

Funny story. A couple weeks ago I went to Lafayette, LA for a football game. While there I was introduced to Abita's Amber Ale. It was a really pleasant surprise. It is very similar to Fat Tire in many ways. It is a brewery that I must have heard of, but for whatever reason seamed brand new to me. I liked the beer so much that I went and bought a couple cases to bring home.

Today I hit their website and found out that they list my local favorite liquor store as a place I can buy it. I've been in there a million times and never saw Abita Amber Ale. So probably just need to call them and let them know when I want some and they'll get it.

Anyway. For those of you that I have pointed towards this style of beer, go to http://www.abita.com and see where in your area you can get this beer. I need to do a side by side with Fat Tire to see which I like better, but either way, a worthwhile drink.

FYI, they also make a beer called Purple Haze that is very interesting. It is a wheat beer with raspberry flavoring added after filtration. You end up with a very fruity beer (almost too fruity).
