The one a drive at work has the check engine light flashing and is misfiring. It won't go over 50 mph either. Any ideas? Hybrids are a pain in the ass. You have to have someone who knows what the hell they are doing before you even start, We had 1 technician who was trained and he spent over 100 hours on his very first hybrid. And because most people are "too good" to get their hands dirty, so I think its fine I agree with Brampton completely. A really good technician should get paid for what he's worth. I had to take my safety course in Hybrid units. Do you guys have to wear those large thick blue safety gloves to? And because most people are "too good" to get their hands dirty, so I think its fine It doesn't take a skilled technician an hour to read the codes. If the shop rate is $80 an hour (which is cheap these days) and it takes an average tech a half hour then it should be $40. That's still fair since it should take like 10 mins to actually do. Back when they started reading codes those machines cost between $2,000 and $5,000 and you had the choice of 3 different manufactures. Now you can buy a consumer grade scanner for $150.
