Anyone know stats on hypothermia and frost bite.. Like how quickly those can set in at certain temps??? Especially in kids?

Off the top of my head, I do know you can't get either when it's 84 degrees outside. I think the kids are safe.

Finally getting to the end of the show, I had it paused for a little while...

A Brass Monkey was something from the Civil War era, it was a rail that was used to keep cannon balls in one place. And when it would get really cold, the brass would shrink around the cannon balls, pushing them out. Hence the phrase "cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey".

^^This

Technically when the core temp reaches 95 you are in hypothermia, there are varying levels. Depending on the temp and what a person is wearing, is directly related to how fast it would set in. So to make a table would be impossible.

I was more or less thinking of mid January and a little girl walking around in a mini skirt with bare legs that her mother allowed her to wear to school. (It's for a court trial that I am a witness to).

But wasn't there guidelines about how fast it can set in during bitter cold temps. And how quick the skin can get frostbite when exposed to the cold?

id say the mere mention of that would be enuff. just saying that youve seen her dressed in inappropriate clothing for the weather is fine. dont try to get to technical.

i mean, just mention youve had concerns over her mothers choice in wardrobe. better yet, get a teachers written agreement. or any other independant adult for that matter.

He does need to subpoena the teacher. She told both parents at the parent/teacher conference that the kid was coming to school dressed inappropriately.

I hate it when I get stuck looking around on Snopes...

But I know this one is true, my mom is a teacher, and it was at her school in Taylor Mi.

sure, if you can explain "bitter cold temps". say I run around at 20F naked, its gonna take x amount of time for my core temp to drop 3.6 degrees. Now lets say I run around naked at -20F, its gonna take a lot less time for my core temp to drop. Now lets say I do the same thing, except this time I have jeans and a tee shirt, or 18 layers of clothes. I cant help when you cant provide details

It makes the whole "shock" value plummet.. I feel let down, everything is fake now.
