So, I took my little girl and my mom to the St Patty's Day parade in Bay City yesterday. They usually have shitty weather for it, so I wanted to take advantage of it being nice out. A couple things about Bay City: was originally inhabited by a bunch of Polish Catholics, there about as many churches as there are bars throughout town (and lots of both), and nowadays the town is just full of drunken white trash. Anyway, so at this parade yesterday.. The Firemen from all the surrounding areas drove thru with a color guard leading them. Mom and I stood up.. No one who was sitting stood up for the Flag and none of the guys that I could see around us removed their hats. Then the veterans went thru with formal colorguard. Mom and I stood up again and clapped for them.. and so did one other person near us. Again no one who was seated, stood up and no guys took off theirs hats. WTF... Later on, a group of Army Reverves walked thru in color guard, same deal... no one showed them any respect. It used to be a nice area, I hope those fireman let it burn down one day, and start fresh.
