Oh yeah, I upgraded to 8.1 and Server 2012 R2 on all of my machines as the same day it was released. Having a button for Start is very necessary. agree. I prefer windows 7, but when I updated my home pc, the price difference was quite a bit. So I went with 8. Its cool, no problems with it so far

Supposedly we have until mid-may to update to 8.1 then support ends. The newest update is 8.1 update 1 which came out this week
