I have Used Lenovo laptops at home for the last 11 years. They have never let me down.
I have used Dell laptops for work for the last 6 years. They seem ok.
I have always heard great things about Asus laptops. My father bought one a year ago and I was impressed by it.
Each company makes a line of cheap shit so just know what specs to look for.

Same deal on the memory and processor. We only sell Dell desktops at work so the last time I worked with a different brand was a long time ago.
Need something to be able to work from home, run MS Office well
Then all the normal stuff, but want to use a widescreen monitor. Either a new desktop or a new laptop where I can mirror the display on a monitor

Me: I'm having a problem with the Management Service Starting
Support: Try restarting the management service
Me: How can I restart something that won't start?
Me: An hour and a half on hold and this is the service I get?
Support: The Sr. support guy isn't at his desk right now. Can I have him call you back?
The the guy literally starts choking on something on the phone.
Support: Sorry I'm choking on something in my throat.
Me: Yeah, your choking...
Me: I feel you pain, I've been on this phone call for 2 hours and I'm starting to think my bladder is exploding as we speak.
Matt, my wife and I both have Sony's. Our friends that live up the block both have Sony's. A guy I work with has a Sony. Everybody loves them. I doubt I will leave Sony for laptops.
I really used to like the Sony laptops but haven't seen any new ones lately... They still making them?
