Joe Wrote:So I was going to head over to the girl's house for the night and I figured I'd take the dog for a walk before I left... We walked for a few blocks and was on on the final street when a heard a scream and saw a St. Bernard running across a lawn towards us. This happens all the time in my neighborhood, but everyone has those electric fences so I figured the dog would stop. When the dog came running into the street I stopped. At first both dogs just kind of circled around sniffing. I waited for the other owner's daughter to come down before I moved. Once she put her hands on her dog's collar it went crazy and grabbed my dog by the throat. The leash got wrapped up around my dog and she went to the ground. Once it had my dog down I started kicking the shit out of the other dog. I kicked that fucking dog so hard it lifted off the ground each time. It wouldn't let go no matter what. All of a sudden I felt a pop in my calf and I went to he ground.
Then my dog got out of the hold and latched on to the other dog. That's when the other owner grabbed her dog.

I guess she tried prying my dogs mouth off of her dog, because she claims she was bitten by my dog. When she had her dog secured I jumped on top of my dog and held her down. There was blood everywhere. My dog's face, neck and chest were covered on blood. I was also covered in my dog's blood. When I went to get up I couldn't put any weight on my leg so I had to hop almost 2 blocks to my neighbor's house. He drove us to the emergency vet and then I had Stacy come up and take me to the hospital.

I got out of the hospital at 3AM and my dog got out at 8AM.
That's crazy! I am always paranoid a dog is going to come after us when I walk with my kids. St. Bernards aren't small dogs either.

Jim and I crossed the border back into Canada around 12:30am and got stuck there because of some ass jamming customs agent who was being a dick. Finally got home around 5am and crashed til 10. Then I picked up my kids, cut grass, planted my flowerbeds, whined that I wanted a garden to Jim, played with my kids, had a visit with my sister & brother in law and had a bbq dinner... my "holiday" day was awesome except now I have to go out in the rain and work Confusedad:

When animal control called them they complained to animal control that my dog bit her. The husband also told animal control that he's pissed that I kicked their dog and wants something done about it. Animal Control told me that I have every right to do what I need to protect myself. They said if I shot the dog in the street I would not have been in the wrong.

So far I have like $500 in vet bills and Animal Control said they are absolutely responsible for paying those.

I'm not really sure what's wrong with my leg yet. I wasn't bitten by their dog, so they may not be responsible for paying for that. I'll know more after my appointment with the specialist later today.

They should pay for your leg too! You were trying to save your dogs life because they couldn't control their animal. Had their dog stopped when called, on a leash your dog wouldn't have been hurt and you wouldn't have been hurting trying to save it.
A dog was tied up outside of the grocery store in town when I was 16. We were walking into the store when my mom asked me to go get the mail so I turned on one foot, the dog snapped and took a big chunk out of my leg. The cops said I could have charged the owner, had the dog euthanized but I just had the owner talked to about their pet. The lady who owned it, abandoned it and it now lives with the creepy old guy who owns the movie theater. When I see that dog I cross the street, I refuse to cross its path again.
Pete Nice Wrote:We had an Alaskan Malamute growing up. They are not as bad as people think, they just like to roam. Same with Huskies. You can never let them off the leash, or they will wander away. You also need to take them for runs. My parent would drive down a dirt road and let him run with the car a few times a week.

We had a husky growing up. A friend of my dads raises them and trains them to become sled dogs. He was an awesome dog. He died 2 years ago.
Pete Nice Wrote:Lot's of work. I also am finding out that we waited to long for daycare. everything is booked up until next spring, that is bullshit. Why did no one tell me day cares book up so far ahead?

Daycare is crazy. Jim and I were looking for someone to watch the kids for 2-3 hours every day so I could hit up the gym, go grocery shopping without the kids and what not...
The daycare in town I refuse to let my kids go there since I worked there and it's an unstable environment with favoritism and neglect to the ones they don't like...
The daycare 10 minutes out of town didn't take any child under the age of 18 months and they had a waiting list. They phoned me last week wondering if I still wanted the kids to go there... two years later...
A private daycare in town wanted $20/a child per day and she could only watch them until this upcoming May because she was going on maternity leave.
Jim and I went to Nebraska this weekend to pick something up...

1) 34 hours in a pick up truck is a really long time
2) Gas & Diesel is still cheaper than up in Canada
3) The state of Illinois has some ugly license plates
4) I saw an Irish Ben look a like at a gas station in Iowa at 4am... I should have snapped a picture the resemblance is uncanny.
5) People of Nebraska think overalls are a fashionable item

As long as my insurance covers it I'm OK with them just paying the vet bills. If they refuse the $500 then I may get nasty and stick it to them.
Now I have to wear a huge boot for a month.

- So, i need to cross the border to gas up?
- Yes, they do
- Nice
- I thought so too, when we drove through there.
